It is available in separate male and female formulations to increase the likelihood of successful separation of the sexes. Through reduced opportunity for reproduction combined with mortality upon contact, the fruit fly population is suppressed, and infestations are prevented.
The application of both Zonatrac Female and Male protected almost 100% of mangoes from peach fruit fly damage during field trials, whereas, the untreated control plot had one quarter of its mango crop spoiled due to peach fruit fly infestations. This demonstrates the efficacy of Zonatrac in controlling fruit fly populations, allowing fruit to flourish without extensive insecticide application.
MALE
Zonatrac Male has a specially designed formula to manage male fruit fly species that respond to Methyl Eugenol. The wax emulsion contains male lure with a low-dose toxicant to kill on contact. It is advised to apply Zonatrac Male along the border of the treatment plot.
FEMALE
Zonatrac Female is exclusively formulated to lure female Bactrocera fruit flies. The bait station contains a low dose toxicant with female lure.
Pupae & Larvae
Russell Bio’s Recharge contains natural beneficial micro-fauna that improves soil health and stimulates the immune system of the plant to fight against fruit flies. In the presence of Recharge, the adult fruit flies will fail to emerge, as the beneficial micro-organisms suppress fruit fly pupation occurring in the soil. Apply two to three kilograms of Recharge powder per hectare, near the root area of the tree, or mix with the irrigation system for application during watering.
